US Airways Buy-Up Program
Well, its getting late in the year where many of us have made the highest status we'll get to or we're almost there. One of the challenges is that if you're just a few thousand (or less) preferred qualifying miles (PQM) away from your next status level it can be a little frustrating. There are a few solutions to this 1) go on
a mileage run, 2) buy up to the next level if its worth it. US Airways has a program available to buy the number of preferred qualifying miles that you need to get you to that next level. If you go to the US Airways Buy Up program web page, you can see how for a small sum you can buy up to the next level based on the number of additional miles or segments needed. US Air doesn't actually give you the miles here, so this is just based on the number of Preferred Qualifying Miles (PQMs) needed to get to the next level. For example, if you are a Gold with 73000 miles, you need 75000 miles to be Platinum, you could purchase the buy-up option for 2,000 miles (see the table below) for $399 and get platinum.
This table is as of Dec 15, 2012 and of course the US Airways Terms and Conditions and rules apply.
